Allegheny Valley School provides care for more than 900 children, adults and senior citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  In addition to intellectual and developmental disabilities, most of our residents have multiple physical disabilities, medical complications and some have behavioral management needs.

With an excellent reputation for providing care and services, Allegheny Valley School is often called upon by the state to take over failing programs or to provide care for new residents when state institutions are closed.  In response to such requests, Allegheny Valley School now operates beyond the traditional service area of Western Pennsylvania.  We began providing services in Philadelphia in 1989 and in Central Pennsylvania in 1994.

Allegheny Valley School is one of the largest providers of care for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Pennsylvania.  The agency is headquartered in Coraopolis, PA and operates more than 125 facilities and programs in the following counties:  Allegheny, Beaver, Bucks, Butler, Dauphin, Lebanon, Mercer, Montgomery and Philadelphia.

Residents live in safe and caring environments including community group homes, campus environments, apartments and family-living arrangements.  Each person is cared for with individualized services ranging from physical, occupational and communication therapies to special education and vocational training.
