Success On and Off the Links in 2010
On beautiful day - Monday, August 16 – 88 golfers teed off for the 19th annual Friends of AVS Golf Open Presented by AVS Foundation. For the second year the event was held at Churchill Valley Country Club.
Throughout the day participants enjoyed a golf scramble and challenges on the course including competitions for closest to the pin, longest drive and longest putt. A new competition, “Beat the Champ,” gave participants a chance to beat the drive of AVS’ President & Chief Executive Officer Regis G. Champ. Approximately 20 golfers beat Mr. Champ’s shot which entitled them for a chance to win a cash prize and two tickets to the Black & Golden Anniversary Celebration. Congratulations George Pihiou and Casey Milligan!
More than 110 golfers and other guests gathered for the dinner program led by Regis Champ. Winners from the course were announced and received their prizes (see below). Throughout the evening people generously participated in the Chinese and Silent Auctions that added nearly $6,800 to the event proceeds.
With support continuing to come in, the event has grossed more than $100,000 to date! Net proceeds will be contributed to the Capital Development Fund to support expenses that are not reimbursable by Medicaid including new program development, facility improvements, property and equipment.
